The development that the town had in the Middle Ages, thanks to some Venetian glass masters who started a thriving business here, is evident from the remains of walls and defensive towers. The town now offers the opportunity to venture into the woods of Umbria along the paths leading to Monte Petrarvella and Pausillo or visit the nearby medieval village of Cibottola that was the site of one of the first Franciscan convents. From Rome: Take the A1 Rome - Florence, exit at Fabro, continue to Montegabbione, and follow direction Piegaro. From Perugia: Direction Città della Pieve, SS 220 (Pievaiola Road), arrived in Tavernelle, past the junction for Panicale, continue towards Città della Pieve, after 7 km turn left to Piegaro.
